Citizen science is scientific information collected by ordinary people.
There are several organizations that rely on people to help them track monarchs.
Often these findings are used in scientific reports. They can help in identifying what is happening to monarch populations and finding science-based solutions.

The adult monarch butterfly captured by this W-SR student was photographed, released and reported to the citizen science site Journey North. Photo by Paul Mugan.

Examples of Citizen Science include...
- reporting sightings of Monarchs at different life cycle stages
- tagging Monarchs as they start their fall migration
